This bulk substrate is simple to prepare. The only important thing you keep in mind is that you need to bring it to filled capacityāit should be completely hydrated and won't hold any more water than three-five drops when squizzing.
The ideal way to achieve this is to either add the exact quantity of water or add excess and drain it off. There's a good way to determine if it's on its field capacity.
Usage of a substrate that is too wet or too dry is a common mistake. It should be damp but not wet, with a gentle squeeze enough to release a few drops of excess water.
5Kg of buffered coco coir will make up to 70 litres of bulk substrate.
