Choosing substrate for growing mushrooms is one of the most crucial aspects in mushroom growing. Wood is considered nitrogen poor, so grain rich in nitrogen is combined with the sawdust to provide food for newly forming mushrooms.

Sawdust: We use eucalyptus sawdust which is very good for growing wood loving mushrooms like Shitake, King Oyster, Wine Cap, Chicken of the woods, Turkey Tail, Lions Mane, Maitake and Reishi mushrooms.Gypsum is added for good aeration and bran for nitrogen.

We even supplement your hardwood sawdust order for you, with the following ratios.

73 % Hardwood Sawdust (Eucalyptus)
24.6 % Bran (Nitrogen)
2.4 % Gypsum (Calcium Sulphate)

How to:

Add 65% water to the above mix.This mixture is added to a mushroom grow bag and steralised at 15psi for at least 2 hours ( depending on the size and amount of bags being sterilised. Once cooled to room temperature the grain spawn is added, the bag is sealed for sterile colonisation.
